Klabzuba
Oil & Gas
In 1968, Robert Klabzuba, a successful and respected geologist and exploration manager of nearly 30 years, struck out on his own to start Klabzuba Oil & Gas.
In the early years, the company grew through involvement with first class local operators while Klabzuba supplied the geological and geophysical expertise. These relationships were the backbone of growth through the 1980’s and were most rewarding to all. As the company grew into the 1990’s its property count reached a point dictating Klabzuba take greater control of its destiny and overall operations; the relationships of the previous period taking on less of an importance. Also during this period, John Klabzuba, son of the founder, opened the Denver office and began to expand the company’s deal flow. The younger Klabzuba also began to diversify the holdings of the company, spearheading an investment emphasis in commercial real estate. In 2008, after 20 years of leadership and service, John Klabzuba retired from the company to pursue personal interests and investments. Today the company is led by the 3rd generation of Klabzuba's, Rob Park.
The Klabzuba companies have explored
for oil and gas in many U.S. states, offshore in the Gulf
of Mexico, and in Canada, Indonesia and Tunisia. Mr. Klabzuba
helped find the 400+ million barrel Jay Field in Florida,
which was the last major oil field found onshore in
the lower 48 states.
Today, the company holds producing properties in thirteen
different states in the US as well as both Alberta and Saskatchewan
in Canada. Natural gas has been the focus of much of the
exploration activity the last two decades and tools such
as 3-D seismic are used routinely. Once the company began
operating properties for its own account it moved downstream
into the gas gathering, compression and contract drilling
businesses.
